About Lisa

Lisa Plog Carey holds a BA in History from the University of Virginia as well as an MA in Educational Leadership from Columbia University.

Lisa has served as a teacher, curriculum coordinator, department chair, form dean, and director of studies at some of the nation's best private high schools, assisting hundreds of students with their school work and college application process.

Carey College Consulting is distinguished by the high level of support provided to students, deep knowledge of curriculum and skill requirements, and compassionate, approachable, expert guidance provided to each student and family.

I work with students to develop a tailored academic plan that aligns with their strengths, interests, and long-term goals. This includes course selection, balancing rigorous coursework, and identifying opportunities for enrichment outside the classroom. The goal is to ensure students stay on track for success in high school and beyond while building a strong academic foundation for college applications.

Essay Guidance

I help students craft compelling and authentic college essays that reflect their voice and individuality. This includes brainstorming topics, refining drafts, and ensuring clarity, structure, and impact in every piece of writing. My approach focuses on helping students tell their stories in a way that resonates with admissions committees.

College Advising

I guide students through every step of the college admissions process, from building a balanced college list to submitting applications. Together, we navigate standardized testing, extracurricular activities, and interview preparation to highlight each student’s unique strengths. My goal is to reduce stress and empower students to find colleges that are the best fit for their academic and personal growth.
